I got the idea of the 'open' design ring from some of the beautiful work here lately that kinda mixed them up in one way or another. But I like this piece mainly for it's dynamic form and bold colors. Originally it wasn't supposed to have a base but I'm gonna enter it in the Ky. State Fair and needed it to be more stable (which is probably better-I like delicate foots, but this was a bit extreme-even for me). anyway-it's curly maple, wenge, bloodwood and yellowheart-about 13'' tall and 14'' or so wide and a lot lighter than I thought it should be-I guess it's because of the air holes, eh. any comments always welcome-thanks-Robin

16 comments Robin Costelle Sun, 15 Aug 2010 05:31:55 -0700 Segmented Plywood and strand board with a dogwood base http://segmentedwoodturners.org/forum/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=802

by: MCSCHMIT9

Description: Feature ring of strand board and top rim of plywood and solid base of dogwood

1 comment MCSCHMIT9 Fri, 13 Aug 2010 20:32:45 -0700 "A Wooden Jar" http://segmentedwoodturners.org/forum/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=801

by: afox2369

Description: D=6 1/4" x H= 11 3/4" This lidded jar is made from Wenge, Jarrah, Coffee Burl, Gabon Ebony and White Veneer wood.
