this was my first attempt at an open segment turning. I'm pretty happy with how it came out, though I'm sure my wall thickness could have been a bit thinner.

Darryl, Great idea and execution on your 'first'. I haven't seen many open segmented stoppers...great idea. Looks have a user-friendly functional shape to compliment the nice choice of contrasting woods. Since it is functional, I'd not be too concerned with thinning the wall....unless just to impress us with your talent!!
I'd guess that more intricate designs are in your future. Great piece! - Chuck
