Segmented Woodturners

An AAW Chapter

Keith Petersen Biography

I have been a woodworker and woodturner since 1981when I learned how to make laminated lamps on a Sears Craftsman lathe. I spent several years making and selling wooden toys, furniture and turned pieces. In 2010, I bought and read Malcolm Tibbetts’ book and became hooked on segmented turning. I enjoy the many challenges of designing and making segmented vessels and sculptures. Whenever possible, I always try to use the natural colors of woods to be the focus of my work.

I spent my career in healthcare administration serving as a CEO of community hospitals for 38 years until I retired in 2013. I am a native of Minnesota but have lived in Georgia since 1988.

The Segmented Woodturning Club is the very best venue to share ideas and learn about segmented woodturning. Between the forums and the photo gallery we have access to the best segmented turners in the world. I am proud to be a Board Member and I’m anxious to contribute to the organization as it continues to grow and thrive.
