Hi all,
I’m John Nikakis, I live with my wife of 38 years in Gardnerville Nevada, just south of Carson City and east of Lake Tahoe. Along with woodturning and wood working I also dabble in photography and I love to play music. I was one of those kids in high school who took wood shop every year where I learned some basic turning along with the value of always measuring twice and cutting once. After high school I didn’t touch a wood lathe again until I bought one for my home shop in the late 1980’s, that lathe collected dust most of the time unless I had a project that required a turned part. Around 2007 I met a couple of turners at a local craft show and was invited to their monthly club meeting. I was hooked. I now try all types of turning hoping I’ll find a niche, but I’ll most likely continue doing what strikes my fancy at the time. Segmented turning amounts for about a quarter of what I do, but since I retired last spring that has started to increase. I’ve been a member of Segmented Woodturners for about six years and enjoy reading the forum and viewing the gallery. I even leave a comment from time to time.

Hello John,
I purchased one of your walnut and poplar inside out ornaments. I just love the shape and would love to give one to each of my 4 children and perhaps even purchase a few more for myself.
I wondered if you had any more to purchase this year and if not if I could commission you to make them for next year.
Your work is so beautiful!
Thank you,
Sandra
