I was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles, but left the metropolis behind in 1972 for small town life in Roseburg, Oregon. Fate led me to Reno in 1979, where I’ve resided ever since. My wife of 30-years and I enjoy all things related to mountain living at our home in Galena Forest, where I maintain my woodworking studio.
I have been dabbling with wood turning for the past dozen+ years, but since retiring 3-years ago from flying airliners I’ve had more time to expand my portfolio of tools and skills. The result is Weichert Wood Art, where I am dedicated to exposing nature’s beauty by uncovering the anomalies of growth characteristics in wood.
Segmented turning is a deviation from my “purely natural” doctrine. However, I still maintain my paramount objective to showcase the natural grain and colors of each individual piece of wood.
Please visit WeichertWoodArt.net for my complete portfolio.
Thanks for sharing Gary. Beautiful work. -Robin
